Blind Contour, feb 15 2017. this where my new traditional art class online begins

I can honestly say I am familiar with this assignment. I used to something similar in one of my college drawing classes in the past. Difference is, it was mind based and I had to draw what I picture with my eyes closed. But I knew this was somewhat different but familiar territory to me.

I started out with getting out 2 pieces of printer paper, and decide to draw a couple of blind sketches with a pen while looking at my hand and common gestures and positions. I did 3 sketches. On one. After finishing them, I was unsatisfied with them. So I attempt another sketch on the same paper. Only this time going with a bolder sketch lines which takes maneuvering. I am left handed when it comes to working with hands and I focus on my right hand while sketching it in with my left. And I think the boldly sketched hand turn out better and easily more noticeable then my first scribble attempts.

I attempt this technique again on my second paper. With my hand in a neutral position. To draw that said hand on a full scale, and doing my best sketching that vision in. One snag would be, telling the length of each of my fingers. And that is hard to come by. Never the less, I was impressed with it.

Next day, i got a third paper to sketch another hand to see some difference. And that is easy to tell right of the bat, for one, the finger lengths was semi-accurate but missed certain hand structure from the first picture. If I were to pick one that is my favorite blind draw. Would be my second attempt. Despite the finger lengths. The accurate hand structure is there.

Hard, challenging, but mostly fun is to sum this assignment perfectly. It reminded me of a similar project. So I felt right at home to try this concep
